Hey Guys,
Recently I've been working with some people from CalIT2 who have brought to light a particular technology that is pretty interesting. This particular technology is a website called wikimapia.org . This is a site where people can comment about anything based on a selected location on an interactive map (Think Google Earth). Users and add comments about things and ramble on about any particulars thats on their mind. This is strangely already in use widely by many users in India. I was also thinking that this could be a great way to tack on some of our other ideas and make them more tangible by making it location specific. The generation of user content doesn't have to stop at comments left in particular parts of the wikimapia map. The asterisk application could use information grabbed by wikimapia to obtain information that can contribute to a survey or "happiness rating" Since people are already using this widely couldn't a little more grease work bring wikimapia to a whole other level of usability and interaction? |
