The first assignment was incredible useful for learning about a new developing technology and i'd potentially want to research it further for future academic projects or general research I would'nt have encountered the technology or even the living conditions in the countries that we've studied. As a graduating senior this year, this class has opened up the prospect of maybe working for a non-profit stright out of college and not a big bank as I always dreamed I would. It seems more rewarding than the salary difference seems insignificant. It was definitely an eye-opening assignment and I feel like a more informed citizen for it.

The first assignment allowed for an extremely in depth analysis of a technology for use in developing countries. Focused on key bottlenecks preventing the technology from going from idea to implementation. Read criticism and advocacies from industry researchers and corporate figureheads.

The first assignment was good.. I think the main thing is to (as derek said) learn how to make it reader-friendly. It wouldn't be appropriate to call it an essay and people would probably need more help in figuring out how to make it more reader friendly. If we could do that all the compiled articles would be great since they're all listed together.

The most important thing to be addressed now is having people meet basic needs and sanitation levels but limiting the invasiveness/exploitation. I think we need to assess the whole situation before people assume what other countries "need."

I thought the project was informative for both of us as we found a lot of info regarding ventilation air methane. We learned alot of subcategories within Vam such as thermal and catalytic technologies. We also found out about the political situation and teh background info that led to economic growth

We felt that the only drawback to the info we found was that we did not find and specific info regarding technology drawbacks .

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was a good overall assignment, simulated more research for specific product. It was useful because I got to know more about how a company thinks in terms of coming up with a technology design. How in order to be successful they ahve to get to know what is really necessary in a community or region. Culturally economically socially and also how to figure out the best way to introduce and promote the product.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first assignment was useful for evaluating a new technology which could really benefit a developing nation. It really helped me reflect upon how how blessed we are to be living in a country like America. The only thing I would have liked to change would have been to find out in more detail how our technology would affect a specific region of the world. Unfortunately, because it was a technology which only wealthy nations can pursue, it did not leave much reflection for countries that are not as financially well-off.
