Alexis’ Presentation- Group of islands off the coast of India were submerged in past few years
- 300 million people being displaced from Bangladesh
- Refugees fleeing into India
- 700 million people in India are dependent on climate sensitive living conditions
- Could double India’s energy production with just renewable energy (huge potential)
- India Energy Stats:
- will overtake China as most populous nation by 2015
- will represent 1/3rd of total global energy demand by 2050
- 5th largest energy consumer in the world
- Carbon credits
- If you set up solar projects reducing emissions, you can get credits for it
- Microfinance + micro-utilities
- Bio-mass micro grids
- India will be the global future, so it needs to figure out how to conserve the future.

- World Bank offers subsidized loans to developing countries for development projects

- Drop big, global theories
- Try to look at small problems and analyze them in close detail
- Only comment on problems that can be answered very well
- Looks at a specific, small region – tailored to those local conditions
